Halloween Kid Crafts - Costume Accessories

Kids love to play dress up making Halloween an especially fun holiday for kids of all ages. When they can take an active part in creating their own costume, the whole event becomes even more fun. Although a young child probably can not make their entire costume, they can certainly make an accessory or two.

The following Halloween kid crafts focus just on costume accessories that can be used well after the holiday for other dress up fun.

This pipe cleaner crown by Kiwi Crate is an easy to make accessory that just takes one item - pipe cleaners!

Ikat Bag shows how easy it is to make safe swords with empty wrapping paper cardboard tubes. If you save your tubes, you are in luck. If not, you can always use any type of cardboard, from a box, and cover that with the tin foil. Check out the sword tutorial for more ideas.

For this Halloween craft, have your kids go outside and start collecting some branches. All they need to do is decorate the branches with beads like this idea from Playful Learning or simply paint them with some glitter paint like the idea below from Kids Activity Blog.

Now for hats!

A jester hat is fun and colorful and just takes some construction paper, cutting and gluing. It's easy with this jester hat pattern.

Pumpkin Crafts For Preschoolers

Halloween is just a couple of weeks away and there is no doubt that by now your preschooler is "all in" on getting involved with the pumpkin decorating activities.

Most of us are not ready to hand over a knife to our little ones for the basic pumpkin carving tradition, though, so I have come up with some safer alternatives.

Your kids are sure to have just as much fun, if not more, with this collection of pumpkin crafts for preschoolers.  All of them are easy to do, creative, and, of course, very safe.

1.  Baby Food Jar Pumpkins Craft by One Plus One Plus One Equals One

These baby food jar pumpkins are adorable.  Kids only need to fill the jars with orange paper.  There is minor gluing on the outside to make the project complete.

2.  Painted Pumpkins by Holly's Art Corner

Why not just let your kids decorate real pumpkins with paint or ribbon?  Chances are, if you are decorating your own real pumpkin, they are going to want to get in on some of that action!

Halloween Craft: Witches Hat

Here is a fun Halloween craft feature from PBS.  A spooky witches hat that they can create and then wear during a Halloween party or out trick or treating. Of course the hat can easily be a wizard's hat as well!

The hat is easily made from a paper plate and construction paper with fun embellishments to make each hat unique.  Check out the tutorial for the step by step instructions.

Halloween Crafts For Kids

Halloween is just around the corner and kids will enjoy making some fun decorations or treat buckets to celebrate the holiday.  After-all, carrying around their very own homemade bucket for trick or treating is a fun way to show off their creative work!

There are so many kid friendly ideas floating around but I narrowed it down to just the top five projects that will be sure to get kids excited about crafting!

Here is the list that I came up with:

1.  HALLOWEEN NOISE MAKERS:

To get the party going, these noise makers by Fave Crafts are an excellent idea.  Recycled concentrated juice containers and some dowel are the main ingredients to this fun craft.  Kids will love decorating the noise makers and filling the containers with all kinds of different nuts and bolts to make the most noise.  Make sure to check out the tutorial for this one by clicking on the link.

2.  SPOOKY SPIDERS

kids love scary things and to scare each other....or mom!  So...these spooky spiders are sure to be a hit.  With pipe cleaners and pony beads, She Knows shows just how to create these creepy crawlers.

3.  STICKER PUMPKINS

Instead of carving pumpkins, which can be difficult for little kids, try decorating with stickers like these cuties from Babble!  This is a fun and easy way for kids to get involved safely with a popular Halloween festivity.

4.   YUMMY MUMMY TREAT CUPS

5.  RECYCLED TRICK OR TREAT CONTAINER
