Educational Crafts For Kids

Crafts for kids can be more than just fun, the projects can actually teach a lesson as well!  To get a little more bang for your buck, I came up with a collection of craft projects that are educational and at the same time exciting.

You may not want to use the word "educational" with your kids though!  Don't worry, they will be having so much fun, they won't even realize that they are learning.

Here is what I found:

Have your kids make this colorful lava lamp and learn that oil and water don't mix.  Family Fun shows how to easily make this with a clear bottle, oil, water, food coloring and an antacid tablet.  It is a science experiment that your kids are going to love!

Spoonful shows how to make what is called a camera obscura.  It is a contraption that allows light to enter a dark space through a tiny hole which turns the image all topsy turvy.  This project will be sure to create a lot of laughter and at the same time teach a lesson on optics.

This project on how to grow a grass caterpillar just may be my favorite educational craft!  Naturally Educational shows just how easy and fun it is to grow your own caterpillar.

Kids will get a kick out of making their very own stationary paper out of none other than.....toilet paper.  Education.com shows them what happens when they mix common toilet paper with water.

Happy crafting and learning!
